Louisville MSD Holds Ribbon Cutting for Clifton Heights Basin

On May 22, Louisville MSD held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate a key part of the utility company's program to control sewer overflows and improve water quality in Louisville and Jefferson County. GRW provided design and construction phase services for the Clifton Heights wet weather storage basin that encompasses a 7.0 MG CSO (combined sewer overflow) storage basin and a 9.0 MGD pump station.

During the ceremony, MSD Executive Director Tony Parrott, said, "The Clifton Heights CSO Basin will store more than 7 million gallons during rain events while offering a park-like setting." Louisville MSD describes the basin as being "built into a grassy hillside next to the Mellwood Arts and Entertainment Center." Because the facilty is underground, it can't be seen by the public - but check out more details and a few construction/"before" photos here.
