Over the last decade, GRW has accomplished numerous geospatial projects for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. We recently completed projects in Boyd County along US 60 and KY 180, and US 60 at the I-64 interchange.
GRW’s tasks for the I-64 project included aerial photography and field control required for digital topographic mapping of the +/- 3.8 mile US 60 corridor.
This assignment was accomplished by installing new reference monuments and includes digital mapping at 1” = 50’ scale with 2’ contours (with enhanced accuracy) and color orthophotography.
The corridor is 2,700’ in width representing approximately 1,425 acres. The project runs west to east along US 60 beginning at the I-64/US60 interchange at MP .195 and progressing eastward along US 60 to the intersection of KY 180 at MP 4.023. Digital mapping will conform to the current KYTC CADD standards (version 2.04) using Kentucky State Plane Coordinates, Single Zone.
