GRW provided survey, design, bidding and construction services for the complete roadway reconstruction of Smith Avenue (S.R. 32) as a part of Yorktown, IN's, downtown revitalization and new streetscape project. Concept design and master plan development were accomplished through a series of meetings with stakeholders and the public.

The project included total pavement reconstruction, new concrete curbing, new brick and concrete sidewalks, water mains, new decorative streetlights with break away pole bases, new storm sewers and numerous landscape items. In addition, the design improvements included a geometric re-design of the Broadway Avenue/Smith Street intersection along with a new traffic signal and overhead signage system. Street lighting included decorative vintage-style standards with brackets for hanging banners and signs. A power distribution system for holiday lighting was included along with street lighting circuits.

All roadway improvements, as well as lighting design, were heavily coordinated with and designed to Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) standards. GRW also provided an environmental report and utility coordination with the power, telephone, water and cable TV companies to relocate aerial lines out of the streets and into back alleys.
