GRW provided mechanical and electrical engineering design services, as well as construction administration services, for the renovation and addition at the Eubank Elementary School in Somerset, KY. The project involved a phased construction schedule; work was completed while the building was occupied. The overall scope of the project at the 46,820-SF school includes a new kitchen and addition to the cafeteria, as well as a renovation of the entire building as a result of the expansion.
The HVAC systems involved the following items:
- Rooftop variable air volume (VAV) with electric reheat and energy recovery ventilation
- Geothermal rooftop VAV with electric reheat and energy recovery ventilation
- Geothermal console heat pumps in classrooms
- Exhaust and makeup air systems for the new kitchen
- Exhaust systems throughout the new building
- Replacement of plumbing systems
- Replacement of the wet pipe sprinkler system
Electrical systems work provided throughout the entire building included the following items:
- Replacement of lighting systems
- Replacement of the fire alarm system
- Replacement of communications systems
- Electrical service design for the addition
