- Runway rehabilitation. The improvements include asphalt crack repair, seal coating, and striping for fresh markings.
- Runway safety extension. This project extends the runway safety area, a precisely graded area of ground at the end of the runway, to a full 300 feet, ensuring the airport meets FAA safety standards. Design for grading and related activities are included
In addition, GRW assisted the Bardstown-Nelson County Airport Board with funding from the FAA and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet for the projects.
Samuels Field is a municipal airport governed by the Bardstown-Nelson County Airport Board. It has a single paved, lighted 5,000 by 75 foot runway and parallel taxiway, connecting about 4 acres of aircraft parking apron. The runway and taxiway also were designed by GRW. The facilities at the airport consist of a Fixed Base Operator, visitor lobby, administration building, individual and conventional storage hangars, 100LL Avgas and Jet A fuel pumping station, and an auto parking lot.
